Herald Criticized For Printing Letter

Editor, The Herald:
As a writer and adamant supporter of the Constitution, with few exceptions I defend everyone’s right to voice his or her opinion, whether or not I agree with said opinion. The exceptions to which I refer are inflammatory speech, threatening speech and hateful speech: of these there is no defense.
The Herald’s printing of a letter in the July 3rd issue (Pray For Our Beautiful America) was an egregious mistake, not because of the staunchly conservative views, but because so much of the writing was hateful and offensive, in my opinion. It may be the letter writer’s prerogative and he is most likely one of many with that opinion, but The Herald has no business giving voice to it. It is trash and has no place in a respectable newspaper.
