July 4 – “A man can fail many times, but he isn't a failure until he gives up.”

We are thankful for the rain, but it has kept the people of the Tuggle/Prospect area inside.

Mrs. Peggy Kelsey and her twin sister, Mrs. Polly Duncan from Columbia attended the funeral services for “Jay” Garnett of Orange at the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church on Sunday afternoon. J.B. Towler accompanied them. It was his home church and that area was his original home place.

Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith traveled to Lynchburg on Saturday afternoon to do some shopping then had dinner before returning home.

On Sunday evening Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hertzler hosted a dinner at their home. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lee Lapp, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Marv Fisher.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Noblin traveled to Chesapeake to help their granddaughter, Allie celebrate her fifth birthday. It is always great to be able to help your children, grandchildren or even great grandchildren celebrate a birthday.

Lon Stockton Jr. started celebrating his birthday this past Thursday. His parents, Richard and Margaret Stockton, treated he and his family, Mary Jo and Sean to supper/dinner at Fishin' & Pig and then on Saturday night his wife Mary Jo and son Sean held their annual Birthday Party. The house was full of family and friends. A good time was had by one and all.

Don and Betty Meadows treated friends, Richard and Margaret Stockton, George and Shirley Moore, and Scott and Hilda Friend to a delicious breakfast at their home on Monday. It might have been raining outside but the sun was shining inside.

Family, friends and neighbors wish a speedy recovery for those who are sick at this time: Mrs. Nancy Dickerson of Pamplin, Mrs. Betty Jean Bolt, Mrs. Flora Bolt, Mrs. Carol Lee Fulcher, Dennis Leonard, Dick Lash and Douglas Ferguson.

Neighbors and friends are expressing their sincere sympathy to the family of Jay Garnett.

Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invites everyone to Sunday School at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will be in the pulpit this Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. William “Willie” Thompson will be in the pulpit this Sunday. They will be observing Holy Communion.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. The Church is located at 300 Industrial Park Blvd., in the former Stackpole-Carbone building.
