Audrey Childress Llewellyn, 95, of Buckingham, stepped into Heaven and God’s comforting embrace on Wednesday, July 22, 2020.
She was born November 5, 1924 to the late William Thomas Childress and the late Wealthia Davis Childress.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Will Llewellyn and her husband of 20 years, Harry Wise. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Thomas Anderson and June Christian Childress; two brothers, Walter Freeman Childress and Harrison Childress; one grandson, Billy Llewellyn and one great-granddaughter, Genevieve Cerroni.
Audrey was active for most of her adult life in both her church and Buckingham Courthouse community.
She was a member of Maysville Baptist Church and later Mulberry Grove Baptist Church. She loved her church family and teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir, and serving in a variety of church leadership roles. She was one of the charter members of the Buckingham Women’s Club where she was active for 30 years. In addition, she led fundraising efforts for the American Cancer Society in Buckingham County for many years.
Audrey was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by two sons, Grandy Llewellyn and wife Kathleen and Wayne Llewellyn and wife Mary; two step-sons, Ed Wise and David Wise and one step-daughter, Gayle Wise Chier; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service is planned on Friday, July 24th at 10 a.m. at the Community Cemetery in Buckingham Courthouse. Mask and social distancing will be observed.
