Gordon James Moss, 90, of Dillwyn, went to his Heavenly Home on July 3, at UVA Hospital surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank L. Moss and Jessie C. Moss; his wife, Nellie Poe Moss; their baby boy; his sister, Florence “Nookie” Grigg (Edward “Nick” Grigg); and grandson, John M. Jeffers.
He is survived by his sister, Barbara Grigg; his daughter, Jacqueline Jeffers (John); granddaughters, Sherrie Zuraski (James), Jessie Troyer (David) and Brittany Campbell (Ehab); great grandchildren, Asher Troyer, Gracelynn Troyer, Adriana Campbell and Nolan Campbell; and three special nephews, EG, Terry and Kyle Grigg.
Nellie and Gordon were happily married for 63 years. Gordon served in the United States Army as a MP (Military Police). While serving in the military he deployed to Korea. He was retired from Solite Corporation and many knew him as their appliance repairman. Gordon loved his westerns, Louis L’Amour books, telling stories and all things Christmas. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by many. There was surely a reunion in Heaven.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 9, at 11 a.m. in the Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn. Immediately following the service interment with military honors will take place in the Dillwyn Town Cemetery.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
