Velma Grace Webb ‘Nana’Velma Grace Webb of Pensacola, Florida, affectionately known as “Nana” or “Toot” passed away peacefully on May 11, at the age of 89. Born on Nov. 20, 1935, in Sevier County, Tennessee, Velma accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 12 in Worsham —laying the foundation for a life centered on faith, love and unwavering devotion.

She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 70 years, Chief Petty Officer Bruce Wayne Webb; her parents, Luther Moore and Eliza (Justus) Eggleston; and her beloved “Pop,” George Eggleston. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Shular, Jean Matthews, Betty Perkins and Bud Moore; her stepbrother, Reggie Eggleston and nine other stepsiblings; her daughter, Yvonne; grandson, Brett; granddaughter Nina; and great-granddaughter, Addison.

Velma was a devoted Navy wife, loving mother and proud grandmother. She and Bruce were married on Sept. 25, 1953, shortly after he enlisted in the United States Navy. Throughout decades marked by deployments, relocations and long separations, Velma remained the unwavering anchor of her family. With remarkable strength and grace, she raised six children, transforming every new duty station—from Farmville to Pensacola, Sunnyvale and Norfolk—into a place of warmth and belonging. Her quiet leadership, deep compassion, and enduring wisdom touched countless lives, offering comfort and guidance to all who knew her.

After Bruce’s retirement from the Navy, Velma and her family returned to Pensacola, Florida, where she entered a new season of service. For many years, she worked at the Bluffs Nursing Home, caring for others with the same dedication and compassion she showed her family.

Velma is survived by her sons, Steve (Loretta), Mike (Jeanie), Luther (Lana), Anthony (Mary) and Mark; 15 grandchildren; and a multitude of great-grandchildren who will carry her love and legacy forward.
