The Easter Bunny is coming to Farmville, and his first stop will be Piedmont Senior Resources (PSR). That’ll take place on Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The community is invited for a family photo event with the famous rabbit along with treat-filled Easter eggs. Afterward, attendees can hop over to a petting zoo featuring baby goats, bunnies, chicks and ducklings.

The cost for photos is $5 each. All donations will go to the many programs offered by Piedmont Senior Resources.

“Many of our main programs are funded federally and supported by funds from the Older Americans Act; however, many extra programs are not,” PSR Nutrition Coordinator Nikki Dean said.

Included among PSR’s non-funded programs are the Non-Emergency Medical Transportation  (NEMT) Program, Pet Love Program, Delivery with A Ring Doorbell Program, and Santa for Seniors.

“These extra PSR programs are funded from donations and special fundraisers such as the Easter Bunny event,” Dean added. “These are the programs specifically created to meet the needs of the elderly in our community — and many are unique to our agency.”

Fundraisers help cover emergency needs

These special fundraising events also cover emergency needs of PSR clients.

“When a client emergency arises, we use our extra funds to replace broken water heaters, build ramps, fix plumbing or any other costly issue that might arise,” Dean added. “Our goal is to make sure clients are living safely in their homes.”

Proceeds from PSR’s Pictures with the Easter Bunny will go a long way towards helping the senior citizens in PSR’s seven-county coverage area lead independent lives in their own homes.

“With every picture taken with the Easter Bunny, you’re giving hope, comfort and support to seniors in our community,” Dean concluded. “Every donation helps us provide life-changing programs that keep our elderly neighbors safe, cared for and connected.”
