Virginia State Police continue investigation into Cumberland crash

One person is dead and Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating what caused a single car accident that took place Friday in Cumberland. According to VSP officials, the incident took place at 6 p.m. on Cartersville Road, near the intersection with Clinton Road in Cumberland County.
A 1995 S10 Pickup was heading northbound on Cartersville Road when it went off of the left side of the road and struck a fence. The vehicle then came to rest in a field.
The driver of the truck, 52-year-old Cartersville resident Dennis W. Rice, died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
