Richard A. “Dickie” Spencer, 86 of Dillwyn, passed away peacefully on March 9. He was the son of the late Aubrey Chester and Nannie Harvey Spencer.
He is survived by his sisters, Sallie Spencer Crews of Buckingham and Nancy Spencer Davis (Charles) of Midlothian. Along with many nieces and nephews whom he doted on.
Dickie loved the outdoors. Farming was his passion and he would work late into the night raising crops and taking care of livestock.
He worked many years building houses and had a keen memory of houses he helped build and the people who lived there.
Dickie was a member of Mulberry Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 12, at 2 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home with private interment to follow. The family will recieve friends on Tuesday, March 11, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to Mulberry Grove Baptist Church, c/o Jay Jones, 1788 Howardsville Road, Buckingham, VA 23921.
