Donald Paul Meadows, 91 of Farmville, passed away peacefully on Feb. 21. Don was born on Oct. 25, 1933 in Paris, Illinois, to Ednah and Alfred Meadows. He joined the Marines in 1953 serving in Washington, D.C., where he trained in the mechanics of printing presses. After his military service, he began a lifelong career with Addressograph Multigraph Corp, where he worked for over 40 years.
Don married Betty Beahm in 1958 and they settled in Woodbridge, before moving to Buckingham County, in 1972.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; his children, Julie K. Shotwell and Donald P. Meadows; his grandchildren, Joshua Shotwell, Zachary (Nikayla) Shotwell and Kathleen Shotwell; and his great-grandchildren, Arabelle Shotwell and Adelaide Shotwell.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gene and Robert.
Don was known for his sense of humor, wonderful cooking, and especially his love for his family. He was a stalwart, yet playful husband, the grandfather who reveled in mischievous teasing and sang with the Joyful Gentlemen at church where he preferred the classics he knew from memory. While we grieve the loss of Don, we also celebrate the immense gift of his life. His presence shaped us, his love sustained us, and his values continue to guide us.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. on March 15, at Farmville United Methodist Church with a service following at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or Farmville United Methodist Church. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the friends and community who supported Betty in recent years, generously giving their time, care, and companionship during Don’s declining health.
