David E. Brown, 71 of Prospect, passed away on March 10. He was born on May 12, 1953 and was the son of the late William Howard Brown and Olivia Grace Wonders Brown.
David retired from the Virginia ABC Board on Dec. 1, 2005 after 32 years of faithful service. Prior to working for the ABC Board he was employed at the Carpet House in Farmville. David was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved baseball. He was often remembered as one of the best shortstops Prince Edward had ever known. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents, William Howard Brown and Olivia Grace Wonders Brown; his brother, William Howard Brown Jr.; his sister, Margaret Almond and her husband, Randy Almond, his brother-in-law, Curtis Conley, and his brother-in-law, George Taylor.
David is survived by his sister, Beverly Conley; his sister, Carol Taylor; his sister-in-law, Bobbie Lou Brown; his sister, Sally Henderson and her husband, Bobby Henderson; his brother, Henry Brown and his wife, Brenda Brown, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
A visitation will be held at Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville on March 22, at 1 p.m. A graveside service will follow in the Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department or the American Cancer Society.
