A number of colleges and universities released their academic awards list for the fall semester over the past week. And with that, several students from Buckingham and Prince Edward counties made the list.
The President’s List at James Madison University features a number of students from this area. That includes Dillwyn resident Savannah Dickman, who is majoring in Political Science; Naomi Becker of Prospect, who is majoring in Social Work and Lauren Passerell of Scottsville, who is also majoring in Social Work. To make that list, a student must achieve a GPA (grade point average) of 3.9 or higher.
For Southern New Hampshire University, several more Buckingham residents made the Dean’s List for the fall semester. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.500 to 3.699 for the reporting term are named to the Dean’s List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer. On that list was Dillwyn resident Shaun Gambuzza and New Canton resident Brittaney Noel.
For the University of Maryland Global Campus, two Farmville residents were among the 16,000 who made the Dean’s List for the fall semester. To be eligible for the honor, a student must complete at least six credits during the term, earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the term, and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at UMGC. Included on that list were Prince Edward residents Jason Caputo and James Outland.
Meanwhile at Eastern Mennonite University, Farmville nursing major Hannah Cook made the fall semester Dean’s List. The Dean’s List at Eastern Mennonite includes degree-seeking students who achieve a semester GPA of at least 3.75 with no W, I, or F grades for 12 semester hours of standard grades.
And finally, at College of Charleston, two Farmville residents made the President’s List. That list included Farmville resident and marketing major Elizabeth Hall, as well as English major Catherine Rutherford.
