Homer Howard Yeatts Jr., 93 of Farmville, went to be with his heavenly Father on Thursday, Feb. 20. He was born in Nottoway County to the late Homer Howard Yeatts Sr. and Mamie Shelton Yeatts McDaniel.
His daughters, Linda Yeatts Harvey of Richmond and Diane Yeatts Gressett of Suffolk survive him; three grandchildren, Ben Harvey, Jessica Harvey and Nicole Campbell; great-grandchildren, Caleb Piker and Alyssa Piker and Virginia Watson Price; his sister-in-law; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Watson Yeatts; brothers, Roy Yeatts, Bill Yeatts and Larry Yeatts, and sister, Louise Yeatts Jackson.
He served as a staff sergeant in the Air Force during the Korean War. He worked at W. A. Price Company (3 years), The Farmville Herald (4 years) and Haley’s Auto Services (5 years). He was employed for 30 years with the United States Postal Service. During retirement, he worked at Enterprise for 23 years and delivered flowers for Carter’s Florist for 26 years.
He was a charter member of Heritage Baptist Church, where he served as a choir member, deacon, and Sunday School Class President, and on many committees. He and Carolyn loved Square Dancing and traveling with their friends of the Southside Square for 20-plus years.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1, at 1 p.m. at Heritage Baptist Church, 700 Milnwood Road, Farmville. The family will receive friends 1 hour before service starting at noon. Interment will be private.
