Harry Edward LowryHarry Edward Lowry, 95 was born on May 22, 1929 and passed away peacefully at his great grandson’s home in Buckingham, on Feb. 20. He was born in Norfolk to Harry J. and Alice Ann Fowlkes Lowry. They moved to Prince Edward County, where he attended Worsham School. After school he enlisted in the Army and was sent to Germany. He was in the Division of the 82nd Airborne. His service lasted from 1947 to 1956. He worked at Beaumont School for Boys for 10 years in Powhatan. He then moved to Farmville and worked for Uniroyal until he decided to start a dairy business in 1972. He operated the dairy until 1989 when he sold it to his son in law Steve Rainey. He continued to farm the land and help with the crops. Later he operated a game preserve with his neighbor Q. Wilhelmie. He and Q also operated a bee keeping and honey business called Someday Farm. He was an avid gardener and game hunter. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Norma Jean; both sons, Harry Jessie Lowry, Michael Edward Lowry and a grandson, Michael Luke Lowry.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Elaine; daughter, Beverly Lowry Bailey; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and a brother Ray, and his wife, Harriet Lowry of Farmville. 

A graveside service was held on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m., in Trinity Memorial Gardens. Puckett Funeral Home served the family. www.puckettfh.com.
