Bettye Lorene Hensley BrisentineBettye Lorene Hensley Brisentine, 90 of Prospect, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away at home on Feb. 1.

Bettye was born July 21, 1934 in Pendleton, Kentucky and was the oldest of three children to the late Silas and Elizabeth Garrett Hensley. She was preceded in death by her sister, Patty Kelley-McCombs, and her loving husband of 69 years, C. Kenneth Brisentine. 

Bettye is survived by her daughter, Sheri B. Hicks; two grandsons, Rob Hicks (Alison) and Brandon Hicks (Samantha); great granddaughters, Kensington and Avonlea Hicks; great grandsons, Harrison and Henry Hicks; her sister, Connie Phillipe (Bill, deceased); three nieces, and many dear friends.

Bettye was a devoted member of Prospect United Methodist Church where she served on the Administrative Board and as a Sunday school teacher. Bettye worked for many years as a medical assistant to Dr. Ray Moore Jr. She was a member of the Prospect Historical Society and appointed an Honorary Kentucky Colonel.

The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all her caregivers, especially Phyllis Marshall. Phyllis devoted the past six years providing exemplary care for Bettye.

A funeral to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, Feb. 16, at Prospect United Methodist Church with visitation beginning at 2 p.m. and the service at 3 p.m. Interment will follow at Prospect Community Cemetery. To honor Bettye, memorial contributions may be made to Prospect United Methodist Church.
