Betty Louise Flowers StevensonBetty Louise Flowers Stevenson, 84, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 20, at Monroe Health and Rehabilitation Center in Charlottesville. She was born on June 28, 1940, in Rice to the late Walter Sr. and Hattie Pearl Oakes Flowers. For many years, Betty worked as a line fixer at Americal Factory. Outside of her professional life she was a devoted homemaker. She found great joy in cooking and would often cook delicious meals for family and friends. She was also an avid sewer in her spare time. Betty also had a profound passion for history, particularly the Civil War, and was a devoted enthusiast of trains. 

She is survived by her daughter, Hattie McLain and her husband, Shawn; her son, Randy Stevenson; her brothers, William Edward, James Rodgers, Alvin Ray, and Walter Flowers Jr.; her half-sisters, Rachael Flowers Oliver and Peggy Oakes Tatum Newman; and her grandchildren, Elizabeth McLain and Brandal McGee. The family received friends and family from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville. A funeral service was held at 2 pm. on Wednesday, Feb, 26, at Puckett Funeral Home. Interment was held immediately following the service at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Farmville. Arrangements are being handled by Henry Funeral Home in Staunton.
