Bertha ‘Ann’ MaxeyBertha “Ann” Maxey, 85, passed away in the comfort of her home on Feb. 14.

She was born Dec. 8, 1939 and lived the majority of her life in Buckingham. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and reading, but devoted most of her life to her family. She loved sporting events of all kinds, especially when one of her grandchildren was on the team. She was a dedicated Walmart employee, devoting 16 years of her life to the jewelry department.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Harvey Edwards; her second husband, William “Bill” Maxey, and her daughter, Barbara Jean Edwards. 

She is survived by her children, Charlotte Ann Hudgins, Walter “Bug” Edwards Jr. (Angie), Louis Dean Edwards, Michael Leon Edwards (Scotty) and Mary Ann Robinson (Walt). She is also survived by her siblings and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and children that she treated as her own.

Funeral service was held at Sharon Baptist Church, Scottsville, on Monday, Feb. 17.

The family would like to acknowledge the loving care she received from nurses and aides who worked for Hospice of the Piedmont. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Piedmont at 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Charlotteville, Virginia, 22911.
