Robert Kent Watson, 77 of Bostic, North Carolina, and formerly of Hampden-Sydney, passed away peacefully on Aug. 11. Kent attended Prince Edward Academy and served with honor as a Fireman Apprentice in the U.S.Navy during the Vietnam conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Wilson Watson of Hampden-Sydney.
He is survived by siblings, Mary W. Watson (Bill) of Culpeper; Betty A. Watson of Williamsburg and Charles L. Watson (Jeanne) of Roanoke. Additionally, he is survived by his nieces and nephew, and great nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express its gratitude to the caring Christian administration and staff of Fair Haven Home in Bostic, North Carolina, and his hospice care.
A private family graveside service was previously held at Spring Creek Baptist Church in Darlington Heights. The family respectfully requests that any memorial donations be directed in Kent’s memory to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association or Samaritan’s Purse that are both serving the hurricane-ravaged areas of Western North Carolina where Kent lived.
