James Edward “Jim” Carter, 70 of Buckingham County, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 4. He was born on Dec. 27, 1954 in Nelson County, to Hallie C. and Clifford A. Carter Sr.
He was preceded in death by his father and his son, Jonathan Matthew Carter.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda of 49 years, his daughter, Meagan Gilliam (J.T.), his son, Adam Carter (Ashley) and his daughter, Ashley Carter (Jay). Jim had seven grandchildren Ben, Luke and Anne Kate Gilliam, Jake, Ryland and Isaac Carter, and Everleigh Pierce. He is also survived by his mother, Hallie Carter.
Jim worked all of his life in the logging business first with Carter’s Logging and later DNA Logging. He also enjoyed hauling loads in his dump truck and working at his sawmill. Jim loved spending time with his grandchildren, working in his garden and just riding around.
Family visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 9, from 6-8 p.m. at Dunkum Funeral Home. Services will be held at Bethlehem Baptist Church on Friday, Jan. 10 at 2 p.m. with internment in the cemetery.
