Hampden-Sydney ranked 8th in latest D3hoops Top 25 poll

Hampden-Sydney College is ranked No. 8 nationally in the week five D3hoops.com Top 25. The Tigers, ranked seventh in the previous poll released prior to the holidays, earned 440 points in this week’s rankings. Hampden-Sydney is 10-2 overall, 4-0 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), and remains among the Top 10 for the third consecutive poll.

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville (11-1) is ranked first this week with 601 points, including 15 first-place votes, followed by Emory (GA) University (10-1, 580, 2) at No. 2, defending NCAA Division III National Champion Trine (IN) University (10-1, 572, 5) at No. 3, New York University (11-0, 527, 2) (8-1, 495) at No. 4, Washington (MO) University (10-1, 501) at No. 5, Trinity (CT) College (11-1, 462) at No. 6, Illinois Wesleyan University (11-2, 444, 1) at No. 7, H-SC at No. 8, Wesleyan (CT) University (13-0, 425) at No. 9 and The College of Wooster (OH) (8-0, 448) at No. 10.

Christopher Newport University (13-3), who the Tigers defeated 74-71 on November 19 in Newport News, is ranked 12th this week, and fellow ODAC member Randolph-Macon (9-3) is back in the Top 25 at No. 18. ODAC members Guilford (NC) College (18), Virginia Wesleyan University (15) and Roanoke College (2) continue receiving votes in the poll. The Garnet & Grey have swept RMC (84-77, 79-72) and have a win past Roanoke (85-80), as well.

Hampden-Sydney is scheduled to play on the road at (RV) Guilford in conference action on Wednesday night, January 8, at 7:30 p.m. in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Tigers return home to welcome ODAC member Bridgewater College on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m. in S. Douglas Fleet Gymnasium at Kirby Field House.
