David “Dave” Stephen Moffatt, 71 of Dillwyn, entered God’s kingdom on Thursday, Dec. 26, following an unexpected heart attack.
David was born on July 30,1953 in Springfield, Missouri, to the late Charles Edward Moffatt and Inez Maxine Kreitzer Moffatt.
He attended high school in Springfield, Missouri, and continued to study at Missouri State University. He later earned his Ph.D. in Biophysics with a minor in laser technology at the University of Mississippi under the mentorship of Dr. Arthur Guyton. David went on to become an educator at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri, where he taught chemistry, and physics. David dedicated his life to God, inspiring others to embrace His love and explore the beauty of the Gospels.
David was married to Lena Beloozov-Moffatt and was the father of two children: step-son Ilya Beloozerov and daughter Rebecca Wichmann, who survives him. He is also survived by his sisters, Annie Moffatt and her partner James Revell of Columbus, North Carolina, and Jean Moffatt of Saugerties, New York. David will be reunited in heaven with his brother, Bob Moffatt, of Springfield, Missouri.
