William “Billy” Thomas Adams, 89 of Farmville, passed away peacefully at his home on Oct. 31. He was born in Cumberland County on June 10, 1935 to the late Gordon C. and Nancy Wallace Adams. He loved the outdoors, and was an avid gardener, always sharing his produce with the neighborhood and beyond. He loved to fish and hunt and spend time with his family.
He was the oldest member of Smyrna United Methodist Church where he served years as a Trustee. He worked for the Virginia Correctional System and retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation in the late 80’s.
He was preceded in death by his siblings; G.C. Jr., King George, Agnes, Alice Gray, Mary “Polly” and Katherine “Kitty.”
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marie Senger Adams; sister, Charlotte A. Stinson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
Memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m., with visitation starting at 1 p.m. at Puckett Funeral Home. Interment followed at the New Store Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Puckett Funeral Home is serving the family. www.puckettfh.com.
