Virginia State Police are investigating an accident that happened Monday, Nov. 5 on Trents Mill Road. According to State Police Public Relations Director Matt Demlein, the call came in about 6:35 a.m., sending troopers to Cumberland County.
Based on what State Police know so far, it appears a 2021 Chevrolet Spark was heading northbound on Trents Mill Road, near the intersection with Sugarfork Road about that time. The Spark suddenly ran off the side of the road, struck a mailbox and then multiple trees. The driver of the Spark, 39-year-old Marc A. Sims of Cumberland, died at the scene. State Police say he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. Currently, State Police cannot say what caused the accident, but Demlein added that the crash remains under investigation.
