More than 1,000 Farmville residents are in the dark tonight, thanks to a traffic accident this evening. Farmville police and emergency crews responded to a crash that happened down on Second Street, just west of Virginia Street. A driver lost control and ran into a light pole, knocking out power for 1,211 residents. 

Workers from Dominion Energy have since arrived on the scene and are assessing the damage. Officials with the company do not have a timeframe as to when that repair work will be completed.
