Trents Mills News: It’s a time to ‘fight procrastination’

It’s hard to say when exactly this came about. But the message is a good one. Friday, Sept. 6 is a holiday of sorts. That is, it’s a time to celebrate doing things now, instead of later. It’s National Fight Procrastination Day.

That’s something all of us deal with at some point. How many times have you said ‘I’ll do it tomorrow’ and then it never got done? Think about this like a fun wake-up call for everybody, where we encourage each other to do the things we’ve put off forever.

Meanwhile, let’s talk about a few upcoming events.

Tar Wallet Baptist Church, located at 150 Tar Wallet Road, will host homecoming on Sunday, Sept. 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. There will be bluegrass music by First Go Round. Then starting on Monday, Sept. 16, there will be a revival. Rhonda Arnold and friends will be singing from Maranatha Baptist Church of Farmville and Pastor Jimmy Dunn from First Baptist Church in Dillwyn will deliver the message. On Tuesday, pianist Linda Farmer from Cumberland Baptist Temple will perform, with Denise Hill singing from Maranatha Baptist Church in Farmville. Pastor Steve Conwell from Maranatha Baptist will preach.

Finally, on Wednesday, Sept. 18, Pastor Floyd Reed will preach, with music from All Problems Solved. Each night of the revival starts at 6:30 p.m.

And the Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association will hold its regular meeting on Sept. 15. That’ll start at 5 p.m. at Cedar Baptist Church, located at 3932 Bell Road in Dillwyn. Pastor Tommy Armstrong from Cedar Baptist Church will provide the devotions, along with special guest Pastor Alan Gough. Margaret Armstrong, Pastor Armstrong’s wife, will provide the music. Meats will be provided and everyone is asked to bring a covered dish for the meal. All are cordially invited to attend.
