Linnie Noblin KernodleLinnie Noblin Kernodle, 96 of Hampden-Sydney, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 2, after a long and fulfilling life. She was born on Nov. 18, 1927 to James Corbett Noblin and Mary Roller Noblin in Farmville. She attended Farmville High School and Longwood Teachers College.

Linnie married Sidney Warren Kernodle on Nov. 26, 1949. She was a very active member of Farmville Methodist Church, a member of the United Methodist Women and too many other positions to name. She was very involved in the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and was extremely active for decades with the Girls State program. She also chaired the “Poppy Day” sales for Veterans Day for many years.

Her greatest asset was her love for her family. She was never too busy or tired to spend time with her grandchildren and loved them with all of her heart. She set the standard for being a devoted wife and mother. Cooking a big meal for all of her family was one of her favorite things to do. Her skills in the kitchen were unmatched. She also loved playing bridge and was quite the opponent.
