No one was injured. That’s the one thing Farmville Police want people to know. Minutes after it happened Saturday, people started asking question on social media, wondering what they had just heard. The answer was several gunshots.
Farmville Police were called out to the area near North Street Press Club on Saturday, Sept. 28, in response to a report of shots being fired in the area. They arrived at about 11:45 p.m., interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence.
“We have recovered evidence from the area,” Farmville Police officials said in a statement. “There have been no reports of injuries or damage to any property stemming from this event. We believe this event is isolated and have no reason to believe there is any ongoing danger to the public.”
According to police officials, the event is believed to have been triggered by a prior incident that happened earlier Saturday night at North Street Press Club. No arrests have been made in the case as of yet and Farmville Police would not say what was being shot at. They would only say the investigation is still ongoing.
One thing they’re asking for is any eyewitness to come forward and talk about the events of that night. That includes either the first incident at the Press Club or if someone was present when the shots were fired.
“Even the smallest detail could be crucial in bringing those responsible to justice,” Farmville Police said in their statement. “By working together, we can help keep our community safe and secure for everyone.”
