The second of two suspects linked to a July 26 robbery in Farmville has been arrested. Farmville police announced on Wednesday morning that 55-year-old Terence Lockett was caught in Appomattox.

Arrested on Tuesday by the Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office, Lockett was taken to the Amherst County Adult Detention Center in Madison Heights. He had been identified earlier in the investigation and currently faces one count of robbery using a firearm. As we mentioned, Lockett is the second of two suspects connected to the robbery. The other one, 36-year-old Farmville resident Andrez Williams, was caught less than 10 minutes after the incident took place. He also faces one count of robbery and is being held without bond at Piedmont Regional Jail.

On Friday, July 26, the Farmville Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call at 6:47 a.m. from a business in the 500 block of E. Third Street, reporting that the clerk had been robbed. According to the report, Farmville police officers were quickly on scene and developed a description of two suspects.

Both were identified as Black men, wearing dark colored clothing with one wearing a red bandana across his face. Both men left the business on foot, witnesses said, after obtaining cash. No injuries were reported at the business.

According to Farmville Police Deputy Chief W.H. Hogan, Williams was identified as a potential suspect quickly. The Farmville resident was then found and detained.

Farmville Police Chief Andy Ellington put out a statement after this latest arrest, thanking Hampden-Sydney College Police Department, Longwood University Police Department, Prince Edward Sheriff’s Office, and Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office for their response and help in this case.

More beyond Farmville case

This isn’t Lockett’s first run-in with the law. He currently faces seven cases of probation violation in Prince Edward County, as well as one in Roanoke. Also, hearings on shoplifting charges from last year in Roanoke have been postponed multiple times, with the latest postponement coming just three days before the alleged Farmville robbery.

Before this, he hadn’t faced charges in Prince Edward County since 2014, when he was found guilty of attempted robbery and use of a firearm in a felony. At the time he received a 10-year-sentence, court records show, however all 10 years were suspended and he was instead placed on five years of supervised probation.

The preliminary hearing in this case is set for Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. in Prince Edward General District Court.
