Phyllis Hamilton Walker passed away peacefully on Monday, July 8, at the age of 90.
Phyllis was born on Feb. 25, 1934 in Lynchburg, to Henry and Olivia Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 70 years, Arthur Jennings Walker Jr. and sister, Corinne Hamilton Moore.
She was raised in Madisonville.
She is survived by her sister, June Hamilton Wilkins of Farmville; her daughter, Julie Walker Riggan and son-in-law, Jerry Riggan of Glen Allen; granddaughters, Emily Riggan of Columbus, Ohio, and Kelly Riggan of Richmond; and five nieces and a nephew.
Phyllis attended Longwood College and retired from Sprint Telephone Company formerly Centel. She was a member of Farmville Woman’s Club, life member of Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs and belonged to The Serendipity Club. She was an active member of Farmville United Methodist Church.
Phyllis enjoyed growing and arranging flowers. She was a talented artist and enjoyed watercolor and oil painting. She was a loving wife, wonderful mom and so special to her granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 12, at Puckett Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Farmville United Methodist Church.
