Saturday continued a longstanding tradition in Meherrin, with the 38th annual fireworks celebration taking place. Residents parked at or around Meherrin Fire and Rescue, over at 102 Moores Ordinary Road, for a day full of events. 

The department’s annual stew sale got things started at 11 a.m., then food trucks and music were introduced, beginning at 4 p.m. And then of course, once the sun went down, the main event started. Residents watched as fireworks lit up the sky. Here’s a look at some of the sights and sounds.
