Ivan Monroe Snoddy was born Dec. 25, 1933 and went to be with the Lord on July 18. Monroe was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years Janie Snoddy.
He was the loving father of Ricky Snoddy (Rebecca) of Mechanicsville; Vickie Shepherd (Lee) of New Canton and Freddie Snoddy (Wendy) of Scottsville. He also leaves to cherish his memory his grandchildren, Victoria Marks (Stephen), Chris Toney (Kelly), Clint Toney, Maya Snoddy (Robin), Jake Snoddy, and Demi Snoddy as well as his great grandchildren, Haley Toney and Michael Toney. He is also survived by his brother, Wayne Snoddy (Sharon).
Monroe was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Alice Snoddy; eight siblings, and a granddaughter, Alyssa Snoddy.
Monroe was a lifelong member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. He spent his life in service to Buckingham County and its citizens. He served on the Buckingham County School Board for 12 years, on the Buckingham County Board of Supervisors for 22 years, and as a local barber for 65 years. He cherished the friendships he made along the way and always enjoyed catching up with his customers and lending a helping hand in any way he could.
Graveside services were held Saturday, July 20, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Buckingham County Emergency Services.
