One person is in custody and Farmville police are searching for a second connected to a reported robbery Friday morning. The Farmville Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call at 6:47 a.m. from a business in the 500 block of E. Third Street, reporting that the clerk had been robbed.
According to the report, Farmville police officers were quickly on scene and developed a description of two suspects. Both were Black men, wearing dark colored clothing with one wearing a red bandana across his face. Both men left the business on foot, witnesses said, after obtaining cash. No injuries were reported at the business.
According to Farmville Police Deputy Chief W.H. Hogan, 36-year-old Andrez R. Williams was identified as a potential suspect quickly. The Farmville resident was then found and detained within 10 minutes. At this time, Williams has been charged with one count of robbery and is being held without bail at Piedmont Regional Jail.
Hogan thanked the Hampden-Sydney College Police Department, the Longwood University Police Department, and the Prince Edward Sheriff’s Office for their response and assistance during this incident.
He added that the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are anticipated. Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact the Farmville Police Department at 434-392-3332.
