Emily Kaye Covington Coro, 49, returned to her heavenly home on Sunday, June 30. Emily was born May 27, 1975. She was raised in the Elam area of Pamplin and spent her adult life in Farmville.
Emily was preceded in death by her father, Johnny Covington. She was a daddy’s girl, so there has been a joyous reunion.
She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Keith; sons, JD and Alan; daughter, Rachel; mother, Sallye Covington; brother, John Covington (Becky), niece, Gracie; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins including “sister” Ginger Gilliam Davis with special mention to forever mother-in-law, Phyllis Hallik and “daughter” Brandi Albright and her children.
As a child, Emily was an avid reader, an animal lover and a talented artist. Emily was a hardworking, intelligent student – skipping her senior year of high school. After high school, she attended Randolph Macon Women’s College, graduating with honors, while also working full-time.
Then came her greatest joys–her husband and children. Emily was a devoted mother– volunteering with Scouts, enjoying video games, and board game nights with her kids, and homeschooling her children. Her favorite family vacations were a recent cruise, visiting museums and traveling to historical sites. She loved nature, books, and cats.
Her husband and best friend Keith doted on her – cooking for her, working puzzles together, and providing extra care in her final months. She was so loved.
Family will receive friends at Puckett Funeral Home on Sunday, July 7, from 1 to 3 p.m. A celebration of life will follow immediately after, at 3 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to a college fund for the kids at Benchmark Community Bank, Alan and Rachel Coro College Fund, P.O. Box 246, Farmville, Virginia 23901.
