With hearts full of sadness we announce the passing of beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Sharon A. Smith, 63 of Buckingham. She was delivered into the arms of our Lord surrounded by her devoted family on Wednesday, June 12. She was born on July 18, 1960, a daughter of the late Stuart and Hettie Amos.

In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her brothers, Hal Steve Cagle and Charles Eugene Cagle.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years Thomas “Smitty” Smith; four children, Chris Smith (Becca), David Smith (Jesi), Amy Land and Kimberly Jamerson (Johnathan); eight grandchildren, Clayton Smith, Kinsley Smith, Eli Smith, Chloe Jamerson, Ryan Land, Noah Smith, Stuart Land and Thomas Land, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister, Annette Silvers and brother, Ricky Amos (Dawn).

Sharon’s kindness and generosity extended not just to her family but to everyone she came into contact with. She didn’t need a welcome sign at her door because everyone was welcome anytime and made to feel at home. Her beautiful smile and welcoming heart made her easy to talk to as she would compassionately offer words of guidance and encouragement.

She also enjoyed the simple things in life. Her favorite pastime was to go antiquing. She reveled in her “treasures”. She instilled foundational morals in her children that have been passed on from generations. She always showered love and affection on her family. Her greatest love was her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and all of her family.

She is the rock on which we stand.

Funeral services were held on June 15, at the Dunkum Funeral Home with interment in the Dillwyn Town Cemetery.
