Janet Lorraine Heath, 62, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 7. She was the daughter of Percy David Heath Jr. and the late Mary Frances Hanes Heath.
Janet’s life was richly lived in service and kindness. She was a beacon of light in our lives. Janet’s life as a B.S.N., R.N. Emergency Room nurse was a heartfelt mission and stewardship of St. Mary’s Hospital. Janet’s sweet spirit touched everyone whom she came in contact with. Her caring and loving heart was exemplified through her willingness to help others; her love of nursing and human life was expressed through all of her being. Her patients were priority one.
Janet gave so freely of her nursing skills to all of her family members. Her presence in the life of the children of her family gave them overwhelming joy.
She always considered the needs of her fiancé, Bob, greater than her own.
Janet was preceded in death by her loving mother, Mary Heath; maternal grandparents, Elijah and Lucy Hanes; paternal grandparents, Percy Sr. and Florence Heath and uncle, Robert Browning Hanes.
Left to cherish her memory is her father, Percy Heath Jr. (Wanda Daily); her fiancé, Bob Pinelli; paternal uncle, Donald Heath and Curtis Heath (Becky); maternal aunts and uncles, Talmadge Hanes (Woody), Edward Hanes, Cornelia Hildebrand (Wayne), William Hanes, Rebecca Goodwin, Loretta Seay (Hamden) and Adrianne Temple; numerous cousins and their families; and dear family friend, Stan Morris.
Families bonds are not always bound by blood, Janet loved Bob’s brothers, Anthony Pinelli Jr. (Myrtice), Thomas E. Pinelli (Diane Andrews), George A. Pinelli (Jayne) and nephews and great-nephew.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 12, at 3:30 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn, with interment to follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends on Tuesday, June 11, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
