Pamplin man faces charges after school bus accident

A Pamplin man faces charges after an incident that happened Friday morning in Appomattox County. Virginia State Police officials say the crash happened around 7:38 a.m. on Friday, May 3 at the intersection of Route 460 westbound and Peach Street.
A 57-year-old driving a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer hit the rear of a school bus traveling down the road. According to Virginia State Police, the bus was carrying 40 students at the time. No one was seriously injured, State Police officials say, adding that as a result of the collision, seven students had to be taken to an area medical facility. State Police officials labeled those injuries as minor. The driver of the Trailblazer, Pamplin resident Chester L. Hickman Jr., was also transported to the medical center with minor injuries.
Hickman has since been treated and released. He now faces charges of reckless driving.
