Cumberland High FFA recently went to the Virginia Capitol to visit with area representatives during the session. They were able to speak with representatives about issues facing the education system, as well as agriculture. Both Sen. John McGuire and Delegate Garrett shared conversations with FFA chapter members.
Cumberland FFA also had a good year from a competition standpoint at the Southeast Area Rally finishing second and third in Senior and Junior Ag Mechanics. Madilyn Adkins, Chapter President, finished second in the area in extemporaneous public speaking and Mikiliegh Robertson won the local competition and finished fourth at the area competition. The vet science team finished fifth at the area competition. In livestock judging, the team was in the Top 20 out of over 1500 teams, and had a high-scoring individual.
Cumberland FFA will have two state-degree candidates for the State Convention in June. The FFA students continue to shine and pour positivity back into their school and community.
Cumberland FFA will be finishing up the year with their annual banquet, plant sale and the Piedmont area junior livestock show.
