Recently, the Cumberland High School Envirothon Team traveled to Ferrum College to compete in the Area V competition, which is a state qualifying event. The group competed in forestry, soils, aquatics, current events and wildlife. They also presented a 20-minute presentation on this year’s special topic, green energy in the Hampton Roads area. The team did well and were able to qualify for the state competition finishing third in the area.
The team is made up of Tucker Bowman, Baylie Robison, Kaitlynne Kelsey, Brianna Barker and Savannah Skeens. The team is coached by Joshua Fleenor. The team will travel to the State competition in Radford at the end of May.
