Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, the Kappa Rho Omega Chapter of Farmville, recently completed two of their community service programs. Chapter members made monetary donations and donations of baby products, such as baby clothes, diapers, wipes, and lotions to the Pregnancy Support Center in Farmville.
The chapter also organized a GenernationNEXT Garden Tea Party where refreshments were provided to the members of the Amelia County Garden Club Association, members of the sorority and their guests.
The sorority partnered with the garden club in planting a beautiful hydrangea tree in the Club’s Memorial Garden which is located in the village on Virginia Street in Amelia. The chapter also made a financial donation to the garden club’s president for the tree. The Memorial Garden is a public venue filled with a variety of trees, shrubs, perennials and bulbs.
These events coincide with the “Uplifting Our Community” and “Empower Our Families” Programs of the sorority. The sorority performs local community service initiatives that improve the environment and gives assistance to the families in the communities.
