There are five candidates running for the Republican nomination in the U.S. Senate race against Democratic incumbent Tim Kaine. On May 4, you’ll be able to hear from some of them. Beginning at 1 p.m., the Appomattox Republican Committee will hold a candidates forum at the Appomattox Community Center, located at 220 Community Lane.
There are five candidates vying for the nomination to run for the seat. Out of that group, three have committed to attend the forum, including Jonathan Walker Emord, Scott Parkinson and Chuck Smith. The panel of candidates will have an opportunity to present their views, followed up by questions relevant to the office for which they are running.
“This proves to be a great informal way to meet the candidates and hear their views,” said Robin Wolfskill, chairman of the Appomattox County Republican Committee. “The Appomattox County Republican Committee is open to all Republicans in the county. It is our objective to promote, secure, and disseminate information related to the Republican Party and to find and secure Republican candidates to elected office in Appomattox County, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and these United States of America.”
The group meets on the first Tuesday of the month at the Pamplin Train Depot at 7 p.m. To learn more, contact the group at mail@appomattoxgop.org and on Facebook Appomattox GOP.
