Ruby Virginia Horne Bryant, born Nov. 19, 1933 in Buckingham went to be with our Lord and Savior early April 17, after a long battle with dementia.
Ruby was preceded in death by her father, E. F. Horne and mother, Mary Elizabeth “Pat” Horne, also her husband, of 63 years William Thomas Bryant and infant granddaughter, Amy Renee Bryant.
She is survived by three children, Nancy K. Randolph (Tony), William R. Bryant (Sherri) and Lisa B. Wright (Ike) and one sister, Thelma Bennett; seven grandchildren, Sandy Etchison, Kelly Bryant, Kenny King, Floyd Wright, Joshua Wright, Randolph Bryant and Christopher Bryant, and eight great-grandchildren.
All who knew Ruby were blessed by her kindness and gentle Christian soul.
She was a lifetime member of Goldmine Church (later named Restoration Outreach Church), where she was a Sunday school teacher, Secretary and treasurer for many years.
Ruby was the last of the Buckingham cannery operators and also worked for Thomasville Furniture Industry in Appomattox and Carysbrook until she retired in 2007 at the closing of the factory.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Thursday, April 25, at 2 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn. Thank you to all the Hospice Family and the kindness to all who comforted her during her illness.
