In 2008, the Academy of American Poets took the initiative to all 50 U.S. states, encouraging individuals around the country to participate.
The Friends of the Library will distribute rolled and ribboned poems to participating businesses in downtown Farmville. On Thursday, April 18, you can pick up a free poem and slip it into your pocket or purse. Poems will also be available at the Barbara Rose Johns Farmville/Prince Edward Community Library as well as at the Greenwood Library at Longwood University, the Bortz Library at Hampden-Sydney College, and at Centra Southside Community Hospital.
