Every year, Cumberland High gives out the Peter R. Marshall Scholarship Award, handed to a senior who ‘exemplifies direct service to the community’. School officials say the goal of this award is to give officials a “teachable moment” of behavioral kindness during a school assembly in which all students will learn the value of empathy, compassion and community service opportunities from their prominent peer. This year, the honor went to Anthony Price. “This award is given to a senior who exemplifies direct service to our community,” Natalie Sacra said during the presentation. She works as a counselor at the school. Anthony Price has been a team captain, volunteer firefighter, peer leader and many more to others in the community and school environment, school officials say. He works two separate jobs, as well as volunteering as a firefighter. While doing this, he played football and completed community service hours. Many students have sought out advice from Anthony pertaining to post-secondary goals and achievements.
