Tigers set new school record at Fred Hardy Invitational

Junior Kade Minton posted a new school-record time of 16:27.55 in the outdoor 5000-meter run to lead Hampden-Sydney College at the Fred Hardy Invitational. The event was held Friday at the University of Richmond’s Robins Stadium. Minton finished 22nd of 27 in the unseeded 5000, while freshman Haden VonCanon placed 34th of 55 in the outdoor 800 with a time of 2:04.57, and sophomore Winston Ransone finished 45th of 52 in the outdoor 1500 with a time of 4:30.71.
Also competing in the 5000 were senior Carter Burcham (16:49.45, 26th) and freshman Kam Maldonado (17:18.19, 27th).
Others competing in the 800 were freshman Dylan Evans (2:20.76, 50th), junior Kevin Busch (2:34.72, 53rd), freshman James Cosenza (2:43.16, 54th) and junior Zach Eason (2:43.64, 55th).
Hampden-Sydney College will compete again at the Blue & Silver Challenge hosted by Christopher Newport University on Saturday, March 30, at TowneBank Stadium in Newport News.
