Nan-Lewis Jennings SimmonsNan-Lewis Jennings Simmons, of Farmville, passed away on March 21, at the age of 73. She was the daughter of the late William Henry and Beatrice Jennings. Nan was preceded in death by her older sisters, Sara Camden and Nell Collie.

Nan is survived by her husband of 45 years, Donnie Simmons of Farmville; daughters, Camden Simmons of Los Angeles, California, and Caitlyn Simmons Flory; son-in-law, Will Flory, and grandson, Henry Flory of Waynesboro. She is also survived by her brother, William Henry Jennings Jr. of Danville, and many nieces and nephews from all over the country, who all enjoyed her poolside snacks and hospitality.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 29, from 4 – 7 p.m., at Charley’s Waterfront Cafe in Farmville. Please join the family to toast Nan and to let her feed you too much food one last time.

Just please somebody make sure that you make Donnie a plate.

There will be no “in lieu of flowers”, as Nan loved flowers; send ‘em all. If you are inclined to make a donation in her name, please do so in her honor to the Alzheimer’s Association to help fight the disease that started to take her from us, or to the Susan G Komen for the Cure for the disease that took her in the end.

The family would like to take a moment to give a special thank you to Deborah Brooks and Michelle Brown of Hospice of Virginia, and the countless other caregivers that they have encountered on this journey.

Thank you for making Nan’s last few years of life as light and full of joy as possible.
