Dear Editor,
As an interested and concerned citizen, I watched the State of the Union address and would like to comment on a few things the President said. He mentioned how upset people were about the murder of a woman by illegal aliens. He compared the response to this incident to the Republican attitude and responses to the hundreds of murders committed by American citizens. Many people believe it is far more important to own guns believing the gun will protect them from the violence of illegal immigrants. Do we have to arm our innocent children to protect themselves from violent and sick Americans?
The president also mentioned banning abortion. Our prison system can deal with the unloved and unwanted. How many of those “right to life people” have adopted an unwanted baby? Never forget antiabortion legislation does not apply to the rich.
It appears to my common sense that Right to Life and the Second Amendment are contradictions. Only someone who has no common sense would call this hypocrisy.
