Due to inclement weather in January, the Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors had the pleasure of recognizing the January Employees of the Month at its Feb. 13 meeting.
The January 2024 Employees of the Month were the Prince Edward Social Services SMILE Committee, an advisory group to the Director of Social Services. Its members have been actively building morale within the agency, while also looking to address diversity, equity and inclusion amongst the employees. The Committee is composed of workers within each of the agency’s units and has planned multiple events in a coordinated effort to hear each and every employee’s voice, recognize their differences, celebrate successes and learn and grow through the difficult times.
“This special group is committed to making a difference both internally, within the walls of Department of Social Services office, and externally, in the Prince Edward community,” said Kimberley Allen, Director of Social Services. “Congratulations to Sherri Davenport, Chelsie Townsend, Patricia Carter, Darius Baskerville, Shirley Taylor, Shelby Atkins, Lisa Merritt and Jennifer Miles.”
