Charles Douglas BranchCharles Douglas Branch, 89 of Buckingham, has gone to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 10. Doug was preceded in death by his son, Steve Branch; parents, Edna Beasley Snow and Freddie Branch, and brother, “Slick” Branch.

He is survived by his daughter, Robin Branch and her husband, Jeff Elder; his significant other, Katurah McCormick; mother of his children, Aline Branch; and many more loved ones. Special thanks to Margaret Scruggs, husband L.A. Scruggs, for her invaluable support and devotion to Doug over the past 43 years.

Doug Branch: father, friend, and businessman. He was the owner of Branch Land Company in Appomattox. It should be of no shock that this real estate mogul had a passion for farmland, owned horses the majority of his life, as well as loved getting together with friends to play cards. Doug was a brilliant man and a real visionary. These qualities were apparent at an early age when young Doug Branch took earnings from his paper route, down to the Franklin Mint to purchase gold coins. This very astute young investor grew into an extremely successful man who harbored a deep appreciation for nature’s beauty and was discreetly philanthropic.

Doug’s life is a testament to two things: 1.) it’s never too late to accept Jesus into your heart as your Lord and Savior and 2.) no matter how long you’ve been praying, do not stop. Doug wanted for nothing in the earthly sense, but it wasn’t until the pivotal moment when he realized what he was missing. Countless deliberations, numerous contract proposals but the most vital decision he made was to repent, turn from his ways and allow Jesus into his heart and life. It wasn’t until making this choice that Doug received the most valuable prize one could attain and for the first time in his life, he experienced pure peace. Let Doug’s testimony show that we all have a void inside of us, eagerly waiting to be filled. We try to satiate this longing with various vices be it riches, fame, hobbies, etc.., but nothing can satisfy like the Lord. Now Doug is experiencing eternal life with the King of Glory!
