Buckingham County Public Schools are operating on regular schedule today. Let’s get that part out of the way first. There’s been no change, as the district prepares for one final day in the classroom before Spring Break. But while that’s taking place, district staff are working with deputies from the Buckingham County Sheriff’s Office to address a threat.
In a statement released around 6:30 a.m. Thursday, officials with Buckingham schools said the district received a number of reports from students, staff and members of the community about an alleged threat going out over social media.
“We have been working closely with our Buckingham County Sheriff’s Office,” district officials said in the statement. “We have also taken action and made plans to ensure the safety of our students and staff today.”
District officials said they’re proud of everyone who spoke up and helped deal with the threat, both those in schools and community members. They thanked everyone for protecting Buckingham schools.
“We look forward to a good day of learning as we gear up for Spring Break,” district staff said.
