Each month during the regularly scheduled meeting, the Cumberland School Board recognizes the Students of the Month for each school. The following students were recognized by School Board members at the December 2023 meeting: 

• Treasure Vaughan, first grade student at Cumberland Elementary School, daughter of Tameika Taylor, granddaughter of Charlene Spradley, and great granddaughter of Mary Scott, of Farmville. 

• Chanze Trent, eighth grader at Cumberland Middle School, son of Stevie and Nicole Trent of Columbia. 

• Emma Beach, twelfth grader at Cumberland High School, son of William and Victoria Kinney of Cumberland.
