Here’s something to think about. Knowledge and information had very little reach 2,000 years ago. The same is true 1,000 years ago, 500 years ago, 300 years ago. And it was limited in scope to the means of travel and verbal exchange done by word of mouth, which, with each exchange, the content changed to varying degrees when information was transferred from one person to another, and to another, and yet to others, and from one language to another language, and from one translation to another translation, and so on, so at a distance, the original content became altered and diluted by the people giving the information, and, over generations and centuries, not much, if any, original meaning survived.
